Sometime in the late 1990s I sat at my cubicle, behind three short walls, staring at my computer.
What's this?

I must confess something. I actually have a string of this ridiculous email in my inbox. From my very first personal email account, where I've saved so many memories from back in the day. Sadly, I had not yet learned that I could CC myself on my own responses, so I recreated those here. I hope you enjoyed some insight into Andrea of the late '90s.
Oh, I hated those "Getting to know you" e-mails, but damned if I didn't fill every single one out and forward to 10 of my friends.
ReplyDeleteFunny that you saved them.
I always had trouble with these because I tend to have a small group of intimate friends...only a few who had e-mail...so I never had enough people to pass them on to!
ReplyDeleteLoved the skinny dipping part!
Ooh, I remember those e-mails! I think I did every one I was sent. I used to really like getting them and filling them out!
ReplyDeleteThis brought back such great memories! I only wish I had thought to hold on to more of my early email correspondence. Even the chain letters. Especially those chain letters.
ReplyDeleteHee! Love this! I used to love these threads and was secretly thrilled when facebook brought them back! :)
ReplyDeletei was giggling as I read this bc I have the same ones from my first account :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how those were novelties back then, and now we're like "ugh delete"
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd saved my chain letters from my early email days. I think it's awesome you did-- it's like a time capsule!
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
Omgoodness, I remember how special those were at first. I think my mom even participated in one and i got to learn new things about her. It's rare that i fill them out now. But they were fun:)
ReplyDeleteNot a heavy metal fan? Not even Poison? Bon Jovi? (that's more glam rock, i guess) lol
Ha! I remember those things! so cool that you still have emails from back then!
ReplyDeleteThis is clever! I remember this exact one. And darn if I didn't fill it out.
ReplyDeleteYour drink choices crack me up. I was a Midori girl back in the day. Too funny.
Wow, you kept old emails? That's awesome. I wished I had done that to some of the emails I had received.
ReplyDeleteLove, love those get-to-know questions. It gives me the false illusion that somebody actually wants to know about me. lol.
What a fun response to the prompt! I never had the patience to fill out one of these though I remember having so many chances!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, we used to do that too - my friends and I. I am with you on hating 3:30 pm. That is my hardest time of day. I feel like eating the house.
ReplyDeleteThose emails were the funniest and a little worrisome when I first received them. I wasn't sure if I should answer them or not. Thankfully, I only had a couple of friends who would send them to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing yours. It was a kick to read.
I remember these too!
