Everyone on social media is shouting about their incredible credit they received from Amazon this week - me? - I'm all about my three dollars and fourteen cents.
Yes. For real.
But YOU - you need some more books - don't you? I'm going to share the best books by some of my favorite authors that you need to add to your collection immediately. As always, affiliate links are provided throughout this post to assist you in your shopping experience.
Five Books You Need To Order With Your Amazon Credit
Firefly Lane will always be one of my favorite reads. It hits you right in the feels. Stirring up a number of emotions. The relationship between the main characters is both, touching and realistic. And the writing is so so good. If you've never read anything by Kristin Hannah this is absolutely the place to start. I loved it so much I passed it along to a friend and bought myself the e-copy because I needed to own it again - for always.
The Other Boleyn Girl was the first book of Philippa Gregory's that I read. But not the last, by any means. It's the book that led me to buying several more of her books to add to my collection. I know that the book says it's the second one - but it doesn't matter, in my opinion, you can read it first and then pick up others in the series. Or just read them all out of order. But if you're uncomfortable with that suggestion, grab The Constant Princess - which is book one. Either way, you're going to enjoy them.
This book will stick with you forever. I mean it. Forever. Handle With Care is possibly my favorite Jodi Picoult novel. And that is saying something. She's written many incredible stories. My Sister's Keeper, for example. That book tugs at the heartstrings something awful. But still, so good. But this book? The ending still haunts me. Some may say that Picoult's stories become predictable, but I don't think so. If anything I think she continues to share a talent that shines super bright, and this might just lead you to a Picoult addiction.
Have you ever read Barbara Kingsolver? Her skill with the written word is beyond description. Ironic, perhaps, that I'm unable to truly define why you need to get your hands on The Poisonwood Bible. But it's so very good. The way the book delves into the characters and the setting, which, in this instance, is the Congo - in a time of unrest and tension - it's just the kind of story you need to read.
It took me way too long to pick up The Night Circus. So many people recommended it, shared it as one of their favorite novels, and still, I waited. Too long. The story of these two young magicians, their connection, the circus itself - the setting - all of it? Such a great read. The Night Circus is a phenomenal book that I strongly recommend. If you have not read it yet you need to do so as soon as you can. Don't wait as long as I did. You'll know once you've finished why you needed to read it and why I think you should have done so sooner.
So, there you go. Five books to get your hands on as soon as you can.

I also loved POisonwood Diaries. It's story and its insight into the African way of life have stayed with me in the many years since I read the book. I also loved her The Lacuna. it added an extra dimension to my recent trip to Mexico City where we saw every Diego Rivera mural the city has on display and Frida Kahlo's Blue House. thanks for introducing me to the other writers.
ReplyDeleteI got $34 back & promptly bought the new Elin Hilderbrand. I've read most on your list up there ;)
